Questions and Answers

What’s the difference between the Solo and Studio plans?

The difference is how the license is tied to machines and how many people can use Facet at the same time:

  • Solo (node-locked): Locked to one machine. Facet runs only on the specific computer registered to your account.
  • Team & Studio (floating): Works like a Rhino Zoo network license. Everyone in the office can download the scripts onto any machine or your shared drive, and the cloud manages access based on how many seats you’ve bought. A seat is used only while someone has a Facet script open — close it, and the seat frees up for a colleague. Buy two seats and two people can work at once; buy five and five can. If every seat is in use, the next person waits until someone closes their session. Add or remove seats anytime.

Floating seats are consumed per active Grasshopper session. If you have two Rhino windows open simultaneously, and both are running Grasshopper with Facet scripts, each active session will consume one seat from your studio’s pool.

Any geometry you have baked into your projects is yours permanently as clean Rhino geometry. However, to access the cloud library, download new frameworks, or to run scripts you have already downloaded, an active subscription is required.

Facet scripts require an active license to run. 

New facade scripts are added monthly. Reach out if you would like to see specific designs and they’ll be added to the roadmap.
