License Types
The difference is how the license is tied to machines and how many people can use Facet at the same time:

Tips for a Smoother Workflow
Facade models are complex and large models can take time to calculate. Here are some tips for a smoother workflow: 1. Test On a Facade Sample Computation times depend on the scale and complexity of your facade. For a faster workflow, we highly recommend testing your spacing and parameters on a smaller part of your […]
Using Custom Parameters
Custom Parameters allow you to override global script settings on a surface-by-surface basis. Instead of creating multiple versions of your Grasshopper script for different building conditions, you can control individual facade surfaces directly from Rhino using Attribute UserText. How to Set Up Custom Parameters Supported Custom Parameters Parameter (Key) What it Controls Formatting / Pro-Tip […]
Preview & Baking Workflow
The Facet script workflow combines the facade preview and the bake setup in one section on the far end of the script. 1. Material Groups The Layer panel defines the primary parent layer for your baked facade. Each material group to the right of this panel represents a specific material and its corresponding sublayer. Each […]
Customizing Floor Heights
You can control floor heights in two ways: by setting a Global height for all input surfaces, or by assigning Custom heights to individual surfaces. 1. Global Floor Height (Default) By default the floorHeight parameter in the Main Parameters applies a single, uniform floor height across all input surfaces. Facet uses this global setting automatically […]
Controlling the Facade Direction
Facet uses your Rhino surface normals to determine which way the facade faces. The facade will always offset in the direction the surface normals are pointing. If your facade is facing the wrong way (inside out), you can quickly check and flip it in Rhino using these steps:
Supported Input Geometry
Facet supports all straight or curved surfaces and polysurfaces (trimmed or untrimmed) as long as they meet two requirements: 1. Vertical No slanted, tilted, or leaning geometry. 2. Clean Basecurve Viewed from directly above, the geometry must project as a single, continuous, non-overlapping basecurve. Facet calculates element spacing sequentially along this projected basecurve. Any geometry […]
Step 3: Running Your First Facet Script
Getting started with your first Facet script is easy. The guide below uses the Accordion Fold script as an example, but the workflow applies to any framework in the library.
Step 2: Activating your Facet License
Facet scripts require an active license to run. Follow the steps below to locate your key and activate the software. Where to Find Your License Key Upon signing up, your license key will be sent to the email address associated with your account. Note: If you do not see the email in your inbox, please […]
