Customizing Floor Heights

You can control floor heights in two ways: by setting a Global height for all input surfaces, or by assigning Custom heights to individual surfaces.

1. Global Floor Height (Default)

By default the floorHeight parameter in the Main Parameters applies a single, uniform floor height across all input surfaces. Facet uses this global setting automatically unless you specify a custom height.

2. Custom Floor Heights

If you need different floor heights (like a taller ground floor for retail), you can use Custom Parameters:

  1. Link to Facet – Ensure your target Rhino surfaces are linked to Facet (i.e. named GH-Facet-Facade).
  2. Create Custom Parameters – Click the Create Custom Parameters button in the Grasshopper script’s Main Parameters group. This automatically bakes a UserText template to your input surfaces.
  3. Set the Custom Floor Height – Select the specific surface you want to edit in the Rhino viewport. Go to the Properties Panel and click the Attribute UserText tab (the last icon on the right). Enter your desired values next to the FloorStack field, separated by a comma, for example: 4,3.5

The first number defines the first floor height (relative to the lowest point of the selected surface), the second defines the height of the second floor, and so on.

The last number you enter will automatically repeat for the remaining height of the surface.

If no value is entered in the FloorStack UserText, the Global Floor Height will be used.

Tip: Once you set up custom floor heights on one surface, use Rhino’s native MatchProperties command to instantly copy those UserText settings to other surfaces in your model.
