Step 3: Running Your First Facet Script

Getting started with your first Facet script is easy. The guide below uses the Accordion Fold script as an example, but the workflow applies to any framework in the library.

  1. Download the Script: Navigate to the Facade Library and find your desired facade. On the detail page, click Download .GH and save the file to your project folder.
  2. Open in Grasshopper: Launch Rhino 8, open Grasshopper, and open the .GH script.
  3. Link Your Target Surfaces: Select the target surfaces or polysurfaces in your Rhino viewport that you want to apply the facade to. Go to the Rhino Properties Panel, find the Name field, and enter: GH-Facet-Facade . Facet automatically scans for any visible Rhino geometry matching that specific name.
  4. Customize Your Design Use the Main Parameters or the highlighted Number Sliders to adjust the facade-specific parameters, customize the material preview and output layers, or extend the scripts with your own logic.
  5. Bake the Final Geometry: Once you are happy with the result, click the Bake button. You can find a button at the bottom of the Setup group or at the far-right end of the script; both buttons perform the exact same action.
