Facade models are complex and large models can take time to calculate. Here are some tips for a smoother workflow:
1. Test On a Facade Sample
Computation times depend on the scale and complexity of your facade. For a faster workflow, we highly recommend testing your spacing and parameters on a smaller part of your facade surface first. Once your design is dialed in, scale it up by tagging the entire facade layout.
2. Live Editing vs. Locking the Solver
Any direct modifications you make to the target surface in the Rhino viewport will update the Facet geometry in real-time.
If you want to adjust multiple slider inputs in Grasshopper or modify your input surfaces without waiting for the model to recompute after every click:
- Lock the Grasshopper Solver: Click your middle-mouse button (MMB) on the canvas and select 🔒 Lock Solver (the padlock icon on the bottom).
- Modify the surface or parameters
- Unlock: Use MMB on the canvas and select 🔓 Unlock Solver to trigger the recomputation.
